rawr! godzilla give-away

This Godzilla-shaped uchiwa ( flat fan) was being passed out on the streets of Sapporo to promote the recently-released American film, Godzilla. The film was released in Japan only two days ago, so I haven't seen it yet for myself, but I've heard lots of positive feedback from American fans of the original Godzilla series.

I am offering this Godzilla uchiwa to one reader of my blog as a set with the accompanying Godzilla-inspired etegami carved from corrugated cardboard.

If you are a Godzilla fan, don't miss this chance to win the drawing. Leave a comment below, preferably one that describes your interest in Godzilla. Drawing results will be posted in 7 days. I will need to be able to contact the winner for a shipping address, so if you enter the drawing, make sure and check back here. Comments are moderated. Anonymous comments and crude comments will not be posted.

UPDATE: Go to this post to find out who won the drawing!

  1. Debbie, I really enjoy your etegami because of the toasting marshmallows humor!!! But please do not include me in the drawing, because the prize should go to a genuine Godzilla fan, and I'm not really a fan (speaking of uchiwa)!
I also enjoy the 3-D effect with the corrugated cardboard !

  2. Debbie - you know how much I love your etagami! And I love Godzilla - did you know that in the original movies, Godzilla is female? Everyone always forgets that. I love the old movies and over the years I have collected the most random Godzilla collection - at a German garden center I even bought a small plush Godzilla that made the funky roar noise when you squeezed her middle.

  3. I grew up with the Godzilla movies. My little brother loved them so much he named a whole litter of kittens after the various monster characters that Godzilla fought, the largest of course was Godzilla himself. I would love to share these goodies with him on his next birthday. :)

  4. I was born in Tokyo and grew up in So. Cal watching Godzilla in black and white on TV, while he rampaged through my home town! My favorite wind up toy ever is a Godzilla that walks and shoots sparks out of his mouth.. I am a fan of Godzilla and I would love a fan of Godzilla! (as a senior, I do repeat a lot) did I mention I'm a fan of Godzilla????

    1. Miz June, there were several comments from you waiting for moderation, but they seemed to be all the same, so I assumed it was a glitch in the program and posted just one of them. I hope that's all right.

  5. I'm a Baby Boomer who gave Godzilla movies rapt attention while growing up. The really fun--and strangely gratifying--thing for me is that they fascinate my 24-yr-old grandson even more. Godzilla then, Godzilla now--doesn't matter to him. I would love to present him with your "rawr!" set.

  6. I have to admit my favorite Godzilla movie is when he meets Bambi :) I like what you did with the corrugated cardboard.

  7. I love your new Godzilla series!
It brings me happiness and excitement!
Thank you so much for sharing your art with us....Will Mothra be making an appearances soon?

  8. can't beleive I missed this! Crafty Green Boyfriend is a huge Godzilla fan....

  9. Nice post. I learn something totally new and challenging on blogs I stumbleupon on a daily basis.
It's always useful to read through content from other writers and practice something from their sites.
