illustration friday (atmosphere)

at-mos-phere: 1. the gaseous mass or envelope surrounding a celestial body, esp. that encompassing the earth, retained by the body's gravitational field. I call this the sky.

This etegami of fireflies in a jar is one I drew to commemorate my grandmother. See original post.

  2. This is wonderful. I think fireflies hold such magic!

next Thursday I'll be posting some gifts from Singapore including etegami supplies! My friend didn't even know I was going to try my hand at them. She just has a way of tuning into me. She even included a hand-carved name block and that special red!

  3. Ohhh, I remember seeing fireflies in Japan, summer evenings. They are so pretty and fragile, most beautiful things!

  5. Thank you all for the encouraging comments. @studio lolo, what a cool gift from your friend! @sheree, don't worry, the fireflies were all released from the jar in a very short time.
